Madhya Pradesh to Carve Out New Districts in Election Year

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has unveiled plans to create Maihar a new district. This announcement comes right before the election.

Madhya Pradesh has also seen a couple of new district creation announcements recently with the most recent being the declaration of Maihar as a new district. The Chief Minister made this decision on Tuesday, separating Maihar from Satna district.

History of the matter

This isn’t the first time Maihar has been considered for district status. In 2018, the government made a similar announcement, but the plan did not go through due to various reasons. However, this time, with elections coming up, the government seems determined to follow through on its promise.

This move especially in an election year carries political significance. Opposition parties, particularly Congress, are closely watching these developments, as they could impact the political landscape.

Showcasing Development with ‘Vikas Rath’

Additionally, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has introduced an innovative approach to showcase development projects in the state. The “Vikas Rath” or Development Chariot will tour various districts. It will display development initiatives through video presentations.
