FIRs Filed Against Priyanka Gandhi and Kamal Nath in 41 MP Districts
In a significant event in Madhya Pradesh, FIRs have been registered against several prominent Congress leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi and Kamal Nath, in 41 districts across the state. The allegations stem from a letter that is going viral on the internet. Priyanka Gandhi also posted a tweet on x responding to the matter. The letter claimed that the state government, led by the BJP, operated as a commission-based entity.
On Friday, August 11, Priyanka tweeted, “An association of contractors in Madhya Pradesh has written a letter to the Chief Justice of the High Court complaining that payment of dues happens only after paying 50% commission in the state. The corrupt BJP government in Karnataka used to collect a 40% commission. In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP has broken its own record.” Later, Kamal Nath and many ministers retweeted it too.
The controversial letter is from an organisation called “Laghu Evam Madhyam Kshetriya Sanvidakar Sangh.” It featured explicit claims of a commission system within the government. The letter was supposedly addressed to the Chief Justice of the Gwalior High Court. It also suggested that payments were only made based on a 50% commission agreement.
BJP leaders have accused Congress figures of spreading false information to tarnish their image. They have also filed FIRs under various sections, including 420 (cheating), 469 (forgery), 500 (defamation), and 501 (printing or engraving matter known to be defamatory).
Vishwas Sarang, the minister for medical education, and other BJP leaders reported the incident to the Bhopal criminal branch. Further, the party’s legal unit submitted the complaint in Indore. The complaint, lodged by BJP leaders, alleges that the Congress leaders intentionally shared the fake letter on social media.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister, said that the letter is a forgery. “Confusion is growing. There is no sign of the address on the letter. Nor is there the name of the individual or the organisation,” he said. BJP’s state president, V.D. Sharma, retorted, stating that the Congress party had a history of spreading falsehoods. While Congress leaders have dismissed the FIRs as a means to suppress their voices.

Responding to FIRs, Kamal Nath in a tweet said, “From head to toe, surrounded by scandals, at the direction of the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government, FIRs have been filed against several leaders of the Congress party, including the respected leader Mrs Priyanka Gandhi, Mr Jairam Ramesh, and many others in various districts of the state by BJP leaders.”
Furthermore, he claimed, “The government, known as the Commission Government of Madhya Pradesh, cannot conduct a corruption investigation but can instead oppress those who raise the issue of corruption.”
